WEEK 3 TERM 4 Commencing Monday 29th October 2018
As you read today’s newsletter, 101 Years 3 and 4 students and ten staff members are enjoying Day 1 of the Stage 2 Major Excursion to the Borambola Sport and Recreation Camp west of Wagga Wagga. The children departed early this morning for two jam-packed days of fun, team work and fitness and will return to Parkview PS tomorrow afternoon around 4.30pm. There will be updates on our Facebook Page throughout the day tomorrow (Tuesday) should the estimated time of arrival change from the originally published time. Last week was a special one as we celebrated Grandparents Day with our wonderful grandparents last Thursday. It was tremendous to see so many community members in our school sharing morning tea with our children and engaging in the various traditional games and open classrooms on offer on the day. Thanks is extended to the volunteers who assited with the preparation of the delicious treats enjoyed on the day. Images from the day can be seen later in the newsletter. As we enter the final month of Spring we commence in earnest the planning process not only for the remainder of the year but also for the commencement of the 2019 school year. Please consider the following over the next few days: Premiers’ Spelling Bee Finals Darcy Longhurst will travel to Sydney to represent Parkview at the NSW finals of the Premiers’ Spelling Bee at the Ultimo Centre on Friday. Darcey qualified for the event after winning the Riverina Championship in September. A live stream of Darcy’s participation in this event will be shared via the ABC website for interested community members to tune into. We wish Darcy all the best for this experience and will have a full report in next week’s newsletter.
2019 Planning Our school is deep in to the planning process for 2019, putting in place processes to finalise resourcing needs in terms of staffing and learning materials for our most precious resource, our children. To help us to ensure the most appropriate and accurate resourcing is completed, community members can assist us in two key areas:
Kindergarten 2019 Transition: We encourage all parents of children commencing Kindergarten in 2019 to return their enrolment forms this week to allow us to finalise planning for the coming year. If you are aware of children who are attending Kindergarten in 2019 but are yet to register for Transition or enrol for next year, please encourage them to do so as soon as possible.
Class and resource planning: As we look to plan draft classes for 2019 in all classes and allocate both teaching and SLSO staff, we encourage community members to contact us should they have information that would impact our planning for 2019. This would include possible new enrolments or personal information that should be considered during our planning phase.
Bright Beginnings 2019 A reminder for all community members that we are currently taking registrations for Bright Beginnings 2019. We have already enjoyed significant interest for the program with Mondays already fully subscribed and only limited places remaining for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If you wish your child to be included in Bright Beginnings for 2019 please contact the school as soon as possible.
K-2 Major Excursion The K-2 Major Excursion heads to Wagga for a wonderful day of experiences next Tuesday, 6
th November. The excursion will
depart Parkview at 9am SHARP! and return prior to buses in the afternoon. More information will be distributed in a reminder note during the week. Christmas Carnival Pre-Order Forms Christmas Carnival Pre-Order Forms were sent home last week and are due back at school prior to Monday, 12
th November. As
always, this will be a wonderful community event and a great way to celebrate the impending season! Bring the family and bring some friends!
