CERNER ICON

On Your Desktop, Please Double Click on the CERNER ICON ( BIEHR) to start the program...

Double click on PowerChart PROD Icon to Start

Sign-On Screen: Enter User Name and PasswordNOTE: On first sign-on, you will be prompted to change your Password

to another Password of your choice

2. Then type in your “User Name” & “Password” & “click “ the “Ok” button.

Password Conventions

• In selecting a new Password, select something that you can remember but without making it too obvious.

• In Cerner, you can use any combination of numbers, letters and symbols (eg, @, *, $).

• Password must be at least 3 characters long.

Once you sign on, you will be taken to the Patient List Screen.Initially, you will have no patients listed and must create a Patient List

appropriate to your Provider Group or Specialty.

An IT Educator will be available to help you with this step.

Physician Patient List

• Once your Patient List has been created, you will be able to see information about all your patients in Borgess Medical Center, not just the patients on 7N.

• You will have additional information about the patients on 7N that is not available on patients on other floors at this time.

Exploring Menus and Icons

• There are Menus across the top of the application that you can explore (TASK, EDIT, VIEW, PATIENT LIST and HELP).

• Most of the menu items are self-explanatory (eg, FIND PATIENT under TASK Menu), but if you would like further information, please ask one of the IT Educators for additional assistance.

Exploring Menus and Icons

• ICONS are under the Menu Bar and follow the content of what is in the drop down Menu

CHANGE USER: close session back to the sign-on screen

EXIT: use this to exit the application and close session

OPEN ADDITIONAL CHART: opens another patient’s chart

FIND PATIENT: use to find a specific patient to open their chart

The “AS OF” box is very important!

Click on here to update the record and show you the latest data on the patient chart. It will update to the current time.

To Search for a specific patient, follow these steps

2. Then type in the patient’s last name in the “Search Categories”section.

NOTE: Encounters are listed here and the most current will generally be on top.

4. Click the patient’s name in the “Search results” box.

1. To find a patient “click” this Icon to open the “Search Engine”

5. When finished “click”the “Ok” button.

3. When finished “click” the “Search button.

Exiting the Application

1. To completely “sign-off” the application always leave through the “Exit” door.Do Not use the “X” in the upper right hand corner.

2. If this box appears, please click the highlighted selections.

3. When finished then click the “Yes” button.

Opening a Patients Chart

1. To open the patient’s chart “double” left click the patient’ name.

3. When finished “click” the “OK” button.

2. Then “click” the appropriate relationship title.

Exploring Menus and Icons• There are additional Menus across the top of the

Patient Chart view that you can explore (TASK, EDIT, VIEW, TIME SCALE, OPTIONS and HELP).

• Feel free to explore these Menus and if you would like further information, please ask one of the IT Educators for additional assistance.

Each Task/Tool bar within the chart will contain “extra”Icons which are specific to the screen that is open.

Move to “next” or “last” chart on the patient list.
