Background of the Study

As catalyzed by the international trend, eLearning in the Philippines is gaining momentum.

Silliman University’s Strategic Plan for SY 2008 -2016 spelled out eLearning curricular integration and development through research.

Results of the study may serve as Silliman University’s management decision-making tool in realizing their strategic plan.

Ascertain the level of acceptance for an eTest Generator by answering the following research questions:

1. What is the level of perceived usefulness of an eTest Generator as an eLearning tool?

2. What is the level of perceived ease of use of an eTest Generator as an eLearning tool?

3. Is there a relationship between perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of an eTest Generator as an eLearning tool?

Objectives

Attitude paradigm of Fishbein and Ajzen:1. specifies how to measure the behavior-relevant

components of attitudes,2. distinguishes between beliefs and attitudes, and3. specifies how external stimuli are causally linked to

beliefs, attitudes, and behavior.

The gap between success in information system (IS) and its users can be bridged by determining the users’ level of acceptance prior to the development and implementation of the IS (Davis, 1993).

Conceptual & Theoretical Framework

Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) of Fred D. Davis

Prospective user’s overall attitude toward using a given system is hypothesized to be a major determinant of whether or not he/she actually uses it.

Attitude toward using (ATU) is a function to 2 beliefs/cognitive responses:1. Perceived usefulness (PU)2. Perceived ease of use (PEU)

Result & Discussions

Answering the Research Questions:1. What is the level of perceived usefulness of an eTest Generator as an eLearning tool

among the respondents? With a high weighted mean of 5.8, the respondents perceived eTest as a useful eLearning tool for SUCN.

2. What is the level of perceived ease of use of an eTest Generator as an eLearning tool among the respondents?

With a high weighted mean of 5.2, the respondents perceived eTest Generator as somewhat easy to use as an eLearning tool for SUCN.

3. Is there a relationship between the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of an eTest Generator as an eLearning tool.

Using Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient, with (p-value = 0.0001) < (α = 0.05), the data provide enough evidence that there is a significant positive relationship between the two variables – perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use.

In general, respondents perceived eTest Generator as an acceptable eLearning tool because it is useful and somewhat easy to use for SUCN.

Result & Discussions

The TAM of Davis has significantly helped the researcher ascertained the perception level among the faculty and administration of Silliman University’s College of Nursing for the development of an eTest Generator as eLearning tool for the department.

Summary of Findings

Results of the study provided useful insights that Silliman University’s College of Nursing will accept and use should eTest Generator be developed and deployed as an eLearning tool.

Conclusion

Highly recommended to the management of Silliman University that eTest Generator be developed and deployed to the College of Nursing for the use of its faculty and administration as an eLearning tool.

The use of eTest Generator as an eLearning tool fosters the realization of Silliman University’s strategic plan.

Recommendation

One can tell how important something is today by measuring its potential future impact on

every organization.
