    PRINCIPAL’SMESSAGE June29,2016Wearebusilycleaningtheschoolandpreparingexperiencesfortheupcomingyear.Thefirstmonthofsummervacationisover.Asthenoveltyofvacationbeginstowearoff,youmightconsiderencouragingyourstudentstospendasometimeexploringtopicsofinteresttothemorworkingabittomaintainorimproveskills.Wehavecompiledsomeonlineresourcesonthesecondpageofthenewsletter.Enjoytherestofyoursummer!NBLighthouseSchoolstoWatchCeremonyJune22-25,2016,Mrs.BlairandMrs.RivardrepresentedRisingStarrMiddleSchoolinWashington,D.C.attheNationalForumtoAccelerateMiddleGradesReformconferencetoaccept,onbehalfoftheschool,theawardforthe4thre-designationasaLighthouseSchooltoWatch.Veryfewschoolsnationallyhavereceivedtheawardfourtimesaftertheirinitialdesignationasaschoolthatcontinuallystrivestoimproveintheareasofacademicexcellence,developmentalresponsiveness,socialequitability,andorganizationalstructures.

    MeettheTeacherProcessDuetoconflictswitheventsatPeeplesElementarySchoolandStarr’sMillHighSchoolthatresultintrafficandparkingissues,RisingStarr’sMeettheTeachereventswillbeheldFriday,August5th.TheseopportunitiesareNOTdrop-inevents.Ifyouwanttomeetyourchild’steamofteachers,pleaseplantoattendoneofthesessionsshownbelow;ifyouonlywanttochecktheteamassignment,youcanstopbyanddashintoseethelist.Eachteamwillmeetwithgroupsincentrallocationsthroughouttheschoolfora20-30minuteintroductionandoverviewoftheteamexpectations.Theteamlistsandlocationsofmeetingswillbeprominentlydisplayedthatday.
