~ What’s All the Barking About? ~
A Word From Our President...
I hope everyone had a wonderful Summer!
It is time to start thinking about the upcoming elections of new Board
Members and Officers. Please volunteer to help our club in one of
these very important positions. Please contact June Ashford if you
would be willing to volunteer.
Al Martens is heading our Fundraising Committee and is working very
hard on several projects. We are doing the Seroogy’s Candy sales,
Pictures with Santa as well as a Poinsettia sale. Please participate in
these very worthwhile projects. It will benefit us all.
Thank you to Belinda and her team for a successful Obedience/Rally
Trial. Well done!
Thank you,
Dave Osborn
2016 Business Meeting Dates
December 14
Outreach has started the fall season with lots of programs! Again, a HUGE thank you to
all that are able to attend and share their canines with the public.
September 28 found us at the assisted living facility for seniors called Autumn Fields in
Luxemburg. This was our first visit to this facility and they welcomed us with open arms
and big smiles. A program on obedience and a few tricks made their day with smiles all
around for staff and residents. Thank you to the following club members that were able
to attend:
Candee Brey and Doberman “Lexx”
Wendee Draves and Am Water Spaniel “Tucker”
Rita VandenHeuvel and Lab “Mitch”
Denise Hilbert and Dachsie “Barney”
Sue Ruesch and Golden “Skyy”
Ronda Bermke and Dachsie “Sigma” and Border Collie “Brew”
A late phone call from the Howe Resource Center found the outreach dogs at their
Read-A-Mile literacy program on September 29. What goes better with books than a
dog?!!! Thank you to the following club members that responded to my “emergency”
call and were able to spend a few hours with these students:
Wendee Draves and Am Water Spaniel “Tucker”
Candee Brey and Doberman “Lexx”
Ken & Cheryl Sulewski with Collies “Satin” and “Cal”
Sue Ruesch and Golden “Skyy”
Lisa Williams and Cavalier “Kallie”
Mary Jones and Irish Wolfhound “Hadrian”
Upcoming Outreach Programs If you are able and willing to attend either of these upcoming programs to visit with the
college students please let Ronda know at bermke@centurytel.net. Ronda will then get
back to you regarding parking and where to meet. You need to be a club member and
your dog needs to be very friendly with people and other dogs and current on rabies
vaccine. These programs are always a highlight for the students!!!
NWTC ~ Thursday, December 8, 2016: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
ST. Norbert College ~ Tuesday, December 13, 2016: 3 - 4:30 p.m.
UW-GB ~ Thursday, December 15, 2016: 3:30 - 5 p.m.
A Note from the Outreach Coordinator
Ronda Bermke · bermke@centurytel.net
The fall session of CGC has come to a conclusion. Thank you to my assistant in-
structors who are more than assistants, but right-hand people. They are dependa-
ble in wave of chaos, when in fact my travel plans never seem to work as sched-
uled. Thank you to Cheryl, Ken and Cody Sulewski, Candee Brey, Bree Draves,
and Wendee Draves. Thank you also to the very capable testers of Amy Zelten,
Kay Detample, Mary Scott, and Rob Bermke, with a crazy crowd of Bree, Wendee
and Cheryl. Ken and greeter dog “Cal” rounded out the needed help to con-
clude this testing. Thank you so very much.
Congrats to the following teams:
Jody Lemmens with Doberman “Cuatro”
Andrea Pease with Welsh Springer Spaniel “Higgins”
Andrea Pease with English Cocker “Shandy”
Belinda Freeman with Sheltie “Calah”
Wanda Smith with Belgian Sheepdog “Remy”
Amy Salzbrun with Rottweiler “Greta”
Devon Christianson with Portuguese Water Dog “Leo”
Anne Lindsley with Toller “Bogey”

PACKERLAND KENNEL CLUB
AWARD GUIDELINES To claim a merit award, a title must have been earned between January 1 and December 31, 2016. If you think your dog has finished a title, but haven’t received noti-fication, call AKC to verify your points and/or legs to meet the DEADLINE (January 15, 2017). Club policy gives one (1) merit award for an individual dog for each title earned to the owner (co-owners may purchase a duplicate award from PKC if they are members in good standing with the Club).
To request an award, the owner of the dog must be a member in good standing (not a trainee) and the dog must live primarily with the club member requesting the award. Only one plaque per dog will be awarded. The owner of the dog must have completed the required volunteer hours during the year or pay a $25.00 fee to PKC. Please submit one Merit Award form per dog regardless of the number of titles earned. Only AKC titles and titles recognized by AKC (accompanied with an AKC title certificate) will be awarded by PKC (including CGC and CGCA). Additional title plates for titles that are awarded by other clubs (other than AKC, including single breed parent clubs) may be purchased by the owner. The dog must earn an AKC title to be awarded the initial awards plaque by PKC. Only one MACH/PACH/PAX award plaque will be awarded per dog. Additional poles will be added to the plaque as the dog accumulates multiple agility champion-ships. No awards will be given retroactively. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS-THIS APPLICATION MUST BE TURNED IN NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE STATED ON THIS FORM! THE FORM MAY BE MAILED TO CAROL LIEBEL, 1524 WEISE STREET, GREEN BAY, WI 54302 OR BROUGHT TO THE PKC OFFICE.
