On behalf of the organizing committee of Tanta 5th international meeting, we welcome you all attending and participating in this hopeful scientific event. This meeting will start by the scientific presentations in its first two days in Cairo- Sheraton hotel. Then it will be followed by another two days of live surgeries at Tanta university hospital to demonstrate the recent advances in our specialty to our post graduate colleagues.
We hope it will be a very beneficial meeting that will enhance the continuous medical education and will improve our skills in surgery.
We would like to thank our eminent international guests who are participating in this and supporting international scientific activity. We appreciate the great support of Prof. Abdel Fattah Sadakah, president ofTanta University and the great help of Prof. Shawky El-Abd, Dean of Tanta Faculty of Medicine.

2. Enhancement of the teaching quality :all the department staff applicated the following:
- The course specification.- Common reference book: all its income to support the scientific activities.- New teaching methods.- New assessment methods.- Stimulation of the students by doing projects and presentations.- Teaching clinical skills during seeing real patients.- Teaching surgical skills in the operating rooms.
3. Enhancing the student rights(900 student /year)- Teaching in suitable places provided by all technical and scientific tools.- Increasing the interaction between students and the dept. staff members- Motivations for the best project researchers in every group.- Free CD for every student containing:
*All instruments*Atlas of diseases*All past examinations *All spots needed in examination
4. Future steps:- Broadcasting of operations to the teaching rooms during seminars, workshops& big meetings.- Uploading the website of the project (emlu.tanta.edu.eg) by all department activities and surgeries to be seen by all universities.- Establishing the EMLU site to be the centre for continuous medical education (CME) for the E.N.T serving all the national graduates and steps to gain accreditation for it to give accredited CME hours.

So this Dept. project is an ideal model to gain accreditation. This model must be generalized for the rest of the faculty.
