OSCARS 2015 CONTENDER SERIES PART I

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

OSCARS 2015

In anticipation of the nominations being announced for the 87th Academy Awards next Thursday (15th January), we are taking a look at some of the Oscar contenders this year.

What follows is a summary of some of the main names being mentioned across trade publications, social media and blogs.

Today we spotlight those who could be in contention for Best Supporting Actress…

PATRICIA ARQUETTE – ‘Boyhood’

Arquette looks like an almost certain bet for an Oscar nomination after her performance in ‘Boyhood’ and her current success on the awards circuit so far.

JESSICA CHASTAIN – ‘A Most Violent Year’

Chastain’s performance in ‘A Most Violent Year’ is fun and lively, and despite a snub from the SAG Awards, her nomination for a Golden Globe should help.

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY – ‘The Imitation Game’

Started the awards season off very well, and her Golden Globe and SAG nominations should see her nominated.

MERYL STREEP – ‘Into The Woods’

Streep stars as ‘The Witch’ in ‘Into The Woods’ – the soon to be released musical from Disney. It's a departure from many of her previous roles, but many are tipping it for success.

EMMA STONE – ‘Birdman’

Stone, like many of her co-stars from ‘Birdman’, has picked up all the important award nominations so far this year and looks set to be nominated for the big one.

TILDA SWINTON – ‘Snowpiercer’

This is a slight curveball but Swinton’s name has cropped up a few times so far. One to look out for.

LAURA DERN – ‘Wild’

Many are surprised that Dern hasn’t received as much attention as previously expected, so this might be a long shot, but she is still being regularly mentioned as being in the mix.

RENE RUSSO – ‘Nightcrawler’

Again, another potential surprise for the day could be Russo following her performance in ‘Nightcrawler’. The film is certainly picking up momentum.

WE HOPE YOU ENJOYED OUR RUN THROUGH.LET US KNOW WHO YOU THINK
