Impressions of day 1 of the Organ Summer Course Groningen 2011 (1-5 august).We visited the Martinikerk and the Pelstergasthuiskerk in Groningen. Were we received masterclasses from Theo Jellema and Erwin Wiersinga.
The organ in the Martinikerk goes back to 1542. It is reconstructed by Jürgen Ahrend to the 1740 situation (Schnitger/Hinsz) retaining some later additions.
The organ in the Pelstergasthuiskerk was built by Arp Schnitger in 1712 renewed by Hinsz in 1774.
