• People in Zimbabwe are unhappy that Mugabe is so controlling

• Whites are being kicked off their land • White population is decreasing from 250,000 in

1976 to 40,000 now• Mugabe had been accused of using violence

against people who disagree with him• Zimbabwe was in a drought in 2001• People are starving because of inflation

ProblemsProblems

• Prisoners suffer from violence, AIDS, and malnutrition

• An independent News Paper the “Daily News”, began to report these problems & Mugabe tried to stop them- has been bombed 3 times in the last 2 years

• People are worried that Mugabe will not retire in 2008 and steal another election like he did in 2002

• Inflation is now at 395%• Loaf of bread now costs Z$3,500- 3 times

average daily wage
