When did they start ?

• The Ancient olimpic games started in 776 BC.

Where were they ?

• In southwest Greece

What sports ?

• The sports are: wrestling ,boxing ,long jump ,throwing the javelin and discus ,and chariot racing.

Who could participate ?

• Only men and boys were allowed to attend the Olimpic Games .

• Women were not allowed into the Olimpic Games.

• The first modern Olimpic Games were held in Athens in 1896.

• There are 36 different sports, and some of these 36 are: archery,diving,boxing,basketball,trampoline…

• Paralympic games are made specifically for people who haven’t got legs, arms ...

• Special olympics are made for children who have problems with the brain.

• The specials olympics started on october 30 on 2004.

The flame

• The tradition of lighting an Olympic Flame comes from the ancient Greeks.

• The fire was reintroduced at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, by Pierre de Coubertin.

The flag• In the symbol of the

flag there are five linked rings.The colours are blue,yellow,black,green and red.

• Why are the rings those colours?

• Because at least one of these colours is found on the flag of every nation.
