Igneous rock is formed from

the cooling and solidification of

magma or lava from volcanoes.

Sedimentary RockSedimentary rock is formed from broken pieces of rock

called sediments. Over many years these sediments can

find their way to the bottom of oceans and lakes and

get pressed and cemented together into layers.

Metamorphic RockMetamorphic rocks are are rocks that have changed.

They are formed from igneous or sedimentary rocks

that have been pressed and heated when the earth’s

crust moves.
