We expect Sekolah Men-tari students to be:
Morally upright;
Engaging communicators;
Never too busy to lend a helping hand;
Tech savvy; Able leaders; Responsible citizens; Innovators, and problem
solvers.
Dear Parents,
I hope at this very moment you’re a bit relaxed or relieved after your child’s Semester Examination. I was glad to note that most of our stu‐dents have fared excellently in the examination; an evidence of their thorough preparedness. My congratulations to all the students! I encourage you to continue giving your children quality time in studying their lessons to achieve remarkable results. Examination papers will be sent to you shortly and Progress Reports will be given out on 16th December 2011. Christmas is in the air and we are preparing our students for the Holiday Concert coming up on 13th December. They will showcase the songs they have learnt in their Music class. I am looking forward to seeing you during our Holiday Concert.
Best regards, Tatie H. Agus
FROM THE DIRECTOR
Christian Worship Service Christian parents and
staff organized the first
Christian Worship Service
held last November 11,
2011. Students, parents,
teachers and staff members
attended this activity.
It was a time to worship
God together through songs
and listening to His word.
The message was delivered
by Pastor Jimmy Kawila‐
rang, Director, Torchbear‐
ers International in Indo‐
nesia.
When we gather together we
do so as part of the fam‐
ily of God — to meet with
our Creator and to meet
with others. Our aim is
help one another know,
believe, and follow Him.

Sekolah Mentari Gand Surya Students join Spelling Bee Competition
Three students from our school joined the Spelling Bee competi-tion held at Central School last November 5, 2011. They were: Giovanni Terefi - Grade 2; An-geline Prasetio - Grade 4; and Jennyfer Tanoto - Grade 5.
The contestants were chosen from the different divisions: Divi-sion 1 - Grades 1 & 2; Division 2 - Grades 3 & 4; and Division 3 - Grades 5 & 6. They were se-lected by their Language Arts teachers through a series of writ-ten tests conducted during the previous few weeks.
The objectives of the Spelling Bee were to:
Encourage students to ex-plore and study the English language and its roots;
Help students to learn to spell quickly, accurately and with comprehension;
Promote students knowledge of proper word usage; en-courage students to strive for excellence in spelling skills and other educational pur-suits; and
Provide an opportunity for students to meet and com-pete with their peers in an atmosphere of fun and friend-ship.
Our contestants were not able to make it to the top but the compe-tition itself provided them with a great opportunity to enhance their spelling skills, to learn new concepts, and to increase their vocabulary skills.
