NEUROPHYSIOLOGY

What is Neurophysiology?

Clinical Neurophysiology is primarily an investigative speciality. We use a variety of ways of measuring the function of the brain, nervous system and muscles to diagnose a range of disorders of the nervous system or to aid neuro-surgical decisions.

What sort of patients and patient conditions do we see?

We see all age groups of patients ranging from birth to the elderly and our investigations can be performed on the wards or as routine out patient appointments.

We work with patients with a very wide range of conditions, including but not limited to, epilepsy, stroke, motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis.

What do we do?

We provide specialist knowledge and practice to provide the following services:

• Electroencephalogram (EEG)

• Evoked Potentials (EPs)

• Intra-operative monitoring (IOM)

• Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)

• Electromyography (EMG)
