Why Chlamydia?

Why is it Graded A? It’s prevalent When untreated, its consequences may be serious There is an effective, simple screening test It’s cured with an antibiotic There’s evidence of clinical effectiveness

Why is it a Quality Indicator? It establishes the need for risk assessment and/or

sexual history Thus, sets the stage for dealing with behavioral

Development of Chlamydia Resource

Exchange (CRE)

Brief Overview of CRE

Purpose of clearinghouse Why a public awareness clearinghouse? How did the PAC approach the site

development? Initially developed key questions to guide

committee consideration and discussion of site Reviewed other sample sites Conducted end-user survey Determined target audience of site

CRE User Survey Summary of Findings Background of survey

Primarily to solicit feedback on the design and development of the CRE

Survey sample 179 surveys completed

Key findings Of note was that 87% of respondents reported

they did not have materials to submit to the CRE site and 90% of respondents did not know of any colleagues that would be able to submit materials either. This response suggests a strongly felt, unmet need for public education and awareness materials.

Recent Site Design Accomplishments Recently established many functions for

the web-based public awareness system Submission form Suggested web site features Discussion of site promotion and solicitation

of materials
