Striving for Excellence, One Student at a Time

August 29, 2012

Dear Parent or Caregiver,

Title I is a federally funded educational program that was created to help students who struggle with any aspect of reading, such as comprehension, fluency, and word attack skills. Based on the following criteria: academic achievement levels, curriculum-based assessments, and educators' recommendations, [ ] qualifies to have his/her reading class with our reading specialist, Mrs. Sue Minnich.

Mrs. Minnich’s classes will be small group reading classes in which students will receive specific, targeted reading instruction based on their individual needs. Title I students will no longer be pulled from other classes to receive reading instruction. Instead, they will come to Mrs. Minnich as their reading teacher in a reading class, which will meet five days a week.

There is also an optional after-school help program every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (3:05-4:00) in which students may come and receive help with any difficult concepts being taught in a class, homework, projects, studying for upcoming tests/quizzes, or use the computer for research or an assignment.

We look forward to the upcoming 2012-13 school year. Please find the parent/student/teacher compact enclosed. Complete the bottom portion of this letter and the compact and return it to the Middle School office prior to the start of school. Should you have any questions regarding this letter, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Mrs. Minnich.

Very Truly Yours,

Jennifer T. Wicht, PrincipalMillersburg Middle School
