Immigrated

My parents both moved to California. My mom moved in with one of her friends from Honduras who had come before her and had settled in Pomona.

My father moved to Ontario with one of his cousins.

California

My family has stayed put in

Pomona my whole life. I have not lived anywhere else.

I think they both stayed close to the border because of the large Hispanic presence that was already here that made them feel like home.

Pomona

My father worked in construction and any other odd jobs he could find.

I hardly got to spend any time with him because of the long hours he would be away from home.

Income Father

My mother went to school for nursing and got a job as a babysitter & house and house keeping to help make ends meet.

Once she graduated she was able to get a better job and were able to move in to a better neighborhood.

I consider myself very fortunate to be born here in the U.S. and am grateful for the sacrifice that my parents have made for me to have a better future.
