Representation deals with the way in which

people and places are portrayed in the

media.

The music industry is all about:

IMAGE and ASSOCIATION

Magazine photo-shoots and interviews with

artists are carefully managed to portray the artist in

a way that would appeal to the readers.

The clothes the artists wear, their facial expression, the positioning of the lead singer centrally, the use of pull quotes, the body posture all contribute to the look, style and representation of the band or artist

This look or representation has to do with the artist’s image; the style or

genre of their music, but also the readership of the magazine.
