MS Algebra – Alg.: 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 16.0Standards Review
Mr. Deyo
Alg. 6.0 Students graph a linear equation and compute the x-intercept and the y-intercept (e.g., graph 2x + 6y =4).
Alg. 7.0 Students verify that a point lies on a line, given an equation of a line. Students are able to derive linear equations by using the point-slope formula.
Alg. 8.0 Students understand the concepts of parallel lines and perpendicular lines and how their slopes are related. Students are able to find the equation of a line perpendicular to a given line that passes through a given point.
Alg. 16.0 Students understand the concepts of a relation and a function, determine whether a given relation defines a function, and give pertinent information about given relations and functions.

Learning Target
By the end of the period, I will review key algebra standards (6, 7, 8, & 16) and concepts from Ch. 5 and Ch. 6.
I will demonstrate this by completing Four-Square Notes and by solving problems in a pair/group activity.

A cell phone company charges $.10 per minute for every
minute over your allotted minutes. Your cell phone bill is
$76.10 and you were 11 minutes over your allotted minutes.
Write an equation that gives the total cost (in
dollars) of your cell phone bill as a function of the
number of minutes over your allotted minutes.
y = 0.1x + 76.1 y = 10x + 76.1
y = 0.1x +75y = 10x +75
