OBJEKTIF PEMBELAJARAN (LEARNING OBJECTIVE)
Kursus ini membolehkan pelajar mempertingkat kecekapan berbahasa sesuai dengan intelek pelajar untuk berkomunikasi secara lisan dan tulisan dalam konteks rasmi, kreatif dan bukan kreatif. Mata pelajaran ini disediakan untuk mempertingkat kecekapan berbahasa sesuai dengan intelek pelajar untuk berkomunikasi dengan lisan dan tulisan dalam konteks rasmi, kreatif dan bukan kreatif.

HASIL PEMBELAJARAN (LEARNING OUTCOMES)
1. Menggunakan bahasa Melayu dengan berkesan dari segi lisan dan tulisan.
2. Berkomunikasi secara lisan dengan berkesan dari segi sebutan dan intonasi, tatabahasa, kosa kata, ungkapan dan laras.
3. Memahami bahan bertulis yang beraneka jenis dan gaya, dan seterusnya mengungkapkan fikiran secara lisan dan bertulis dengan bahasa yang betul dan berkesan.
4. Merumuskan butiran dan memperluas sesuatu idea dengan cara yang tersusun, padat, dan berkesan, secara lisan dan tulisan.
5. Mengarang pelbagai teks dengan bahasa yang betul dan berkesan.6. Berkomunikasi secara lisan dan menulis dengan sopan, di samping
mengekal suburkan nilai-nilai murni masyarakat Malaysia.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
A Malaysian student enrolled in General Studies (GS) U1 units are required to attend a minimum of 80% of the scheduled lecture sessions.
Failure in achieving minimum percentage of attendance shall result in student being barred for Final Examination or any other penalties recommended to be imposed by the GS Office.
Late comers or absent for face-to-face lectures may not be permitted to enter the lecture as well as incompletion of any online learning activities prescribed shall be marked as Absent – No reason (AN).
Original medical certificates issued by certified and approved medical practitioners are required to be produced to the General Studies Office in order to be deemed as Absent – Others (AO).

SUMMARY OF ASSESSMENT TASKS (1)
Assessment task(s) is defined as tasks / activities prescribed for a student to undertake throughout the enrolment of the course.
A student is required to undertake, attempt, complete and submit ALL assessment tasks prescribed as the requirement for undertaken, completion and passing of this unit as a hurdle.
Failing to do so will result a student to receive a FAIL grade and will be required to re-enrol and undertake the unit again.
The overall weighting for assessment tasks consist of the following:– 60% continuous assessments– 40% written final examination

TASK 1: LEARNING REINFORCEMENT EXERCISE (LRE)
Weekly-based face-to-face and / or e-lecture online exercises.
All LREs are released via Moodle. A student is required to attempt this particular
assessment task as part of the requirement for undertaken, completion, submission and passing this unit.
Value: Varies from 5% for all LRE.

TASK 2: GROUP ASSIGNMENT
Students are required to form a group to write and produce an assignment with the topics provided.
Selection of group members can be done in Moodle. A student is required to attempt this particular
assessment task as part of the requirement for undertaken, completion, submission and passing this unit.
Value: 30% for each assignment.

TASK 3: ONLINE QUIZ(-ZES)
Weekly-based face-to-face and / or e-lecture online exercises.
A student is required to attempt this particular assessment task as part of the requirement for undertaken, completion, submission and passing this unit.

Students are required to from a group to present and produce video/CD with the topic provided.

TASK 5: FINAL EXAMINATION
Closed-book written examination. A student is required to attempt this particular
assessment task as part of the requirement for undertaken, completion, submission and passing this unit.
All topics taught in this unit are examinable. Topics covered in the assignments may be included and assessed in the exam.
Value: 40%
