Importance of Middle School Course Work

High school courses are connected to achievement of postsecondary and career goals. We know that successful completion of a challenging and rigorous curriculum is often the strongest predictor of college entrance and degree completion (Adelman, 1999). Challenging middle and high school courses can help students develop effective study habits and learn critical thinking and writing skills they will need to succeed in college.
