The Miami Summer Music Festival’s mission is to provide world-class musical instruction and performance experience at affordable fee structures so that our festival will be accessible to all highly motivated and qualified pre-professional musicians, including those who cannot easily afford the tuition associated with attending large music festivals in the United States.

The Miami Summer Music Festival has brought together some of the finest talents from around the world in a program which helps prepare students for the rigors of professional life in a musical world in which the competition is greater than ever before.

Our Opera Institute, Piano Institute and Orchestral Institute provide the next generation of artists the opportunity to take to the stage performances which are intense, exciting, dynamic, and frequently career-changing.

The intensity of the Festival brings out the best in every artist. It helps and will help them prepare for the demands that will be placed upon them in the professional world, where they need even greater flexibility than before. During the Festival, they move quickly from symphony to opera performances, chamber music concerts, and even competitions requiring adaptability, the determination to learn quickly, and dedication. At once, It’s tiring, challenging, and stimulating.

Miami is already strong musically at other times in the year, and the Miami Summer Music Festival provides a new opportunity for performances and training in what is often termed the “off-season.” But as you will hear in our performances, there is really no “off-season” where talent is concerned. I am proud of what our students and faculty have achieved in this first year and am looking forward to our future in Miami.

Sponsorship of the Miami Summer Music Festival ensures the growth and cultivation of tomorrow’s Classical musicians and audiences. With an inaugural year demand of over 500 hundred applications from all over the world, and continuous growth in support from the community , we are assured that Classical music is thriving through the promise and devotion of these ambitious young artists. Miami Summer Music Festival is focused on curating the future of Classical music through tradition and innovation, heralded by guest artists including opera legend Sherrill Milnes, modern luminary Michael Heaston and beyond. This program is paired with outstanding collaborative experiences and performance opportunities.

Tuition and ticket sales off-set only half of the Festival’s operating costs. Miami Summer Music Festival relies on donations and sponsorships to keep this priceless experience affordable and accessible for our young talented musicians, especially those who are economically disadvantaged. In our inaugural year we provided over one-hundred thousand dollars of

scholarships to talented students in need, most who lived in another country and dreamed of studying music with our world-renowned staff. Donations to the Miami Summer Music Festival establishes essential support of these creative and enterprising young talents, and invests in the future of classical music.

The MSMF OPERA INSTITUTE offers passionate young singers applicable training designed to enhance and develop the breadth and depth of skills a successful singer needs in the professional arena. World-class coaches, conductors, and stage directors work with each participant individually throughout the program, which concludes with singers performing full opera productions with orchestra.

The MSMF ORCHESTRAL INSTITUTE is comprised of young musicians who plan to pursue a professional career in the symphonic field. Participants study and perform large amounts of solo, orchestral, and chamber music repertoire. By doing this, they master the fundamental knowledge needed for professional orchestra auditions and life as a musician within a symphony orchestra.

The MSMF PIANO INSTITUTE is comprised of advanced piano artists who are pursuing a professional career track. World-renowned faculty will offer several weekly private lessons, together with regular master and studio classes. Pianists will participate in numerous seminars on skills essential to a professional career, development of personal technique, and participation in chamber performance and vocal collaboration.
