MGMT 1000 STATISTICAL ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT (10%)
BACKGROUND
A survey was administered to 30 respondents in 2016 to determine their perception of the
worldwide economic recession.
You have been given the completed questionnaires from that survey at the end of this
document.
You may use either SPSS or PSPP to complete this assignment.
REQUIRED DEVELOPMENT
Build the data file for the survey by coding for each question and its possible responses.
Include appropriate labels for each question. Code each possible response numerically in
sequence. (E.g. 1, 2, 3...)
Enter the data from the completed questionnaires. (pages 5 – 34)

Analyze the data to produce the following information, according to the survey, regarding the
questions below.
You must explicitly answer the questions asked.
Justify your answer through the analysis done in the statistical package and give supporting
evidence for the question.
1. What is the range of times per week that the respondents
watch the news?
2. Produce an appropriate chart to show how informed are the
respondents about the global economic recession. What does
the chart reveal?
3. Which sectors are the most impacted by the global economic
recession? Be sure to include the modal response in your
analysis.
4. Do more “blue collar” workers think that the unemployment
rate will increase?

REQUIRED SUBMISSION
Two files are to be submitted through the appropriate link in eLearning. All files should be
named with your student id and the software that you used as follows:
If you used PSPP: for example 41809999_PSPP.pdf; 41809999_PSPP.doc
If you used SPSS: for example 41607777_SPSS.pdf; 41607777_SPSS.doc
1) A file containing the output. The output file should be exported from either PSPP / SPSS
to pdf and named YourStudentId_PSPP.pdf or YourStudentId_SPSS.pdf.
2) Build a report that answers each of the four questions listed above. Save the file as a MS
Word format named YourStudentId_PSPP.doc or YourStudentId_SPSS.doc.
3)
a. Your report must include:
A cover page that includes the Course Code and Title, the assignment
name, a graphic (your choice), the date and your Student Identification
Number
A Table of Contents page (auto-generated generated by the appropriate
commands in MS Word)
A Table of Figures page. (auto-generated generated by the appropriate
commands in MS Word)
The body of the report (see b. below)
Insert the page number, your initials and your student ID as footer on
every page in your report

b. For the body of your report:
Type and number each question and provide the answer supported by
your analysis in SPSS / PSPP.
Copy the relevant statistical output from SPSS / PSPP into your Word
document to support your answer.
You must justify your answer by interpreting the analysis from SPSS /
PSPP.
[Hint for PSPP users:
o Have PSPP and MS Word open at the same time. Make the PSPP output window active.
Go to the left of the window and select the name of object in which you are interested and
click Edit Copy from the menu. Go to MS Word, position the cursor where you want that
object to appear in the document and select Edit Paste from the menu.
o Do not modify the table that is pasted into MS Word. When pasting the chart, a link to
the chart may be given instead of the chart. There is no need to make any changes
here…leave the link as it is. The chart will be seen in the pdf file]
[Hint for SPSS users:
o Have SPSS and MS Word open at the same time. Make SPSS output window active and
select the object (that is the table or graph) you are interested in and click Edit Copy
from the menu. Go to MS Word, position the cursor where you want that object to appear
in the document and select Edit Paste from the menu.]
