?The summer internship

changed my daughter?s life. Before, she was

interested in health care, but

now she?s on f ire. She has a clear

picture of how to help the

Balt imore community as a

doctor and a plan of how to do it . "

- Towanda, Mother of MERIT Scholar

What does it mean to be a preceptor?

MERIT works with HR to take care of all paperwork, compliance, HIPAA training, etc. Addit ionally, all Scholars have gone through professionalism training and a rigorous select ion process. Past preceptors rated

MERIT Scholars' professionalism 4.9 out of 5.

Clinical preceptors provide three hour shadowing experiences for MERIT Scholars between June 20th ? July 27th on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. We prefer that clinicians commit to 3-5 days but are flexible and can work with your schedule. There is no addit ional t ime commitment outside of the shadowing.
