Expectations about homework

• Teachers will write down the homework in homework column at side of whiteboard.

• Pupils to copy down the homework in their handbooks.

• Teachers to include deadlines for the assigned homework.

• Expect all pupils to complete their homework and hand it in on time.

Expectations of P6 Pupils – 4As

• Attendance - Attend school regularly, absence must be accompanied by a medical certificate

• Attention - Paying attention in class, being present in body and mind, desired or expected behaviour

• Assignment - Hand in assignments on time / Handwriting / Neatness / Following instructions / Taking pride in doing good work

• Attitude – Positive mindset and attitude (Willing to learn, asking for permission before leaving the class, queuing up, walking down the stairs, respect for others – teachers and peers, greeting teachers, keeping the classroom clean, safety of self & others)

• Create formulae cards or take notes on concepts and formulas.

• Timed to complete 7 questions within 10 minutes (like Speed Test).

To improve on Solving Maths Short Answer Questions • Read and comprehend the question carefully

– underlining the key words and Mathematical information (e.g. numbers/fractions) given.

• Always show the working (Paper 1). – Method marks will be awarded if the methods used are

correct even if the final answers are wrong. • Exercise patience and self-discipline while doing

Mathematics questions. – Be organized in showing all the steps of the required

workings. Do not skip any steps just to be fast.

To improve on Solving Maths Problem Sums (KFC method) • K – Know Read the question for an overview. Know

the key information and the final question. (What do I know ? - Underline them)

• F – Find Find answers to hidden questions (if any) before finding answer to the final question. (What must I find first? What are the strategies I can use? e.g. model drawing, tabulation, work backwards)

• C- Check Check accuracy of the calculation/reasonableness of the answer/ answer has the correct units of measurement (if any).

Paper 3 (Listening Comprehension) Pupils are required to: • Listen to a range of texts for a sustained period of time. The

text may be in the form of news items, announcements, advertisements, conversations, speeches and stories.

• Demonstrate understanding the content of a variety of spoken texts.

• Identify key messages, main ideas and details in a variety of spoken texts.

• Infer and draw conclusions by listening critically.

Paper 4 (Oral Communication) • Reading aloud – Pupils are required to read aloud, pronounce and

articulate words clearly and read fluently with appropriate expression and rhythm in order to convey the information, ideas and feelings in a passage.

• Picture conversation – Pupils are required to express their personal opinions and ideas effectively with grammatical accuracy based on a given picture.

• Topic discussion – Pupils are required to converse with the examiner based on a given topic with grammatical accuracy. Pupils may elaborate by giving examples, descriptions or their personal experiences.

support his/her learning of the language. Use every opportunity as a teaching moment for the
