Ocean – atmosphere heat exchange
• Radiative = solar (up and down) and longwave (up and down). Net heating of the ocean.
• Sensible & latent: bring the surface atmosphere into thermodynamic equilibrium with the ocean (Ta=To and RH = 100%). Net cooling of the ocean.
