Who was Louis Sullivan?

And what was his contribution to Modern Architecture?

He was an architect that has been created as being the “ father of the modern skyscraper”

The Masonic Temple in Boston, MA that inspired Sullivan to become an architect.

Facts About Louis Sullivan:

He was born to an Irish-born father, Patrick Sullivan, and a Swiss-born mother, Andrienne List.

In 1862, his grandparents bought a farm in South Reading (now Wakefield), Massachusetts, enabling Louis to spend summers and occasionally entire school years in the country, from which Louis Sullivan developed a lifelong love of nature.

He is considered by many as the creator of the modern skyscraper

He was an influential architect and critic of the Chicago School

He was a mentor to Frank Lloyd Wright

He’s an inspiration to the Chicago group of architects who have come to be known as the Prairie School.

Along with Henry Hobson Richardson and Frank Lloyd Wright, Sullivan is one of "the recognized trinity of American architecture“
