Photos of the Event

Our kindergarten students and parents were fortunate to have Mrs. Sorenson visit Hale Kula today. She read Aloha for Carol Ann, a story about transitioning to a new school.

Students and parents were attentive listeners as Mrs. Sorenson shared the story of Carol Ann on her first day attending school in Hawaii.

This story is relevant to our military-impacted students who may move to a new school every few years.

Margo “watered” students to grow their ideas.

A kindergarten student ponders what he should draw and write.

I want . . . I wish . . .

Students worked with their parents on a book. They drew pictures of something they want or something they wish for, and parents helped them with the writing.

Mrs. Sorenson shared that a story always begins with an idea, and children have lots of creative ideas!

It was wonderful to see the interaction and conversations between the students and their parents!

More photos . . .

Students were able to “make memories” of a special activity in kindergarten . . .

. . . and they have a book to share those memories.

Thank you, Margo Sorenson!

Mrs. Sorenson signed her books; we have several copies in the library.

A big mahalo to Margo Sorenson for spending the morning at Hale Kula!
