The Australian campaign, Making Music Being Well, was launched for the second time in Hong Kong in June 2012.

On 17 June 2012,
Music Therapy Workshop on Early Intervention was held in Hong Kong as part of the Australian Making Music Being Well campaign.
7 accredited music therapists from Australia and UK shared with almost 100 participants some music therapy techniques they have been using with young children, focusing on the development in social, communication, cognitive, motor and emotional areas.

Introduction to Making Music Being Well & Music Therapy
After the opening song, Jacqueline Leung (RMT) shared with the audience the rationale behind
MMBW, the definition of Music Therapy and examples of
populations that can benefit from music therapy.
Parent Sharing (Testimonial)
Video Sharing (Group Session)
Jacqueline Leung (RMT) read out a
testimonial written by a parent whose child has received
music therapy services for 7
sessions.
A group music therapy session video that targets
on the development of social foundation skills was
shown in the workshop.
Music Therapy & Social Development
Raymond Ng (RMT) shared with the audience the concepts and examples of the 5 components of social skills – eye contact, verbal communication,
body language, co-operation, and sincerity.
Parent Sharing
Mo, our parent guest speaker, whose child has received music therapy services for over 2 years, shared with the audience her impression of music therapy and how music therapy has brought joy and happiness to her child.
Music Therapy & Communication Development
Bettina Wan (RMT) demonstrated on the piano how music can be used as a medium to stimulate verbal as well as non-verbal
communication.
Music Therapy & Cognitive Development
Jenny Lam (RMT) invited the audience to participate in an interactive activity targeting auditory attention skills as well as visual attention skills.
Music Therapy & Motor Skills Development
Millie Wong (RMT) illustrated the use of guitar and songs to describe motor actions
and invited the audience to participate.
Music Therapy & Emotional Development
Fanny Lo (RMT) shared with the audience case examples about how music therapy can address emotional issues and invited the
audience for reflections.
Q&A Session
Video Sharing (Individual Music Therapy Session)
Raymond Ng (RMT) made use of the egg shaker and the djembe to illustrate his answer during Q&A.
Carol Sou (RMT based in Macau) supported MMBW in Hong Kong by sharing a video footage of an individual music therapy session with a child with autism.
Closing: Improvisation
Mass music making - improvisation on the
pentatonic scale.
Piano Performance
Beverly Leung (concert pianist) supported
MMBW by performing Mozart’s Twelve
Variations (Variation 1, 2, 11 and 12) on the
piano during her short visit back to Hong Kong.
