Conventions

The masthead for the magazine We ♥ Pop looks like a speech bubble, which is commonly linked to the idea of texting and gossip. The use of the love heart suggests that this magazine is going to have an abstract feel as a heart is often found in texting and for social elements. This shows how the magazine is linked to the social media side of music and this can help with promotion of music artists. The logo also resembles Milton Glaser’s iconic logo ‘I ♥ NY’. This shows how the magazine has taken a popular logo/design and has recreated it to make the logo of the magazine different from that image but has still used the concept and idea that the image is based around.

Conventions

The recreation of the logo shows how the magazine is sticking with the theme of gossip and is also relating to the audience of a teen genre. This shows how imagery and concept can enhance an element of the magazine and the genre that the magazine is focussing on.
