bottles; else the new wine will burst the
bottles, and be spilled, and the
bottles shall perish.

And no one pours new wine into old wineskins;
if he does, the fresh wine will burst the skins and it
will be spilled and the skins will be ruined
(destroyed).
While the juice from
grapes was becoming
wine, it would swell and stretch the skins in which it had been stored. If the skins
were old and stiff, they
would burst.
