Characters

• Protagonist: main character/main figure

• Antagonist: character who opposes protagonist

• Direct characterization: writer makes direct statements about character’s personality

• Indirect characterization: reader learns about the character through their words, actions and other characters.

• Dynamic character: one that undergoes an important inner change.

• Static character: a character that does not grow or develop internally.

• Flat character: a minor character who does not go through much change.

• Round character: encounters conflict and is changed by it. Fully developed personality.

Plot

• Point of view: perspective of the story. First person, third= third person limited, third person omniscient.

• Rising Action: events going from exposition to climax.

• Climax: most intense/ major turning point.

• Falling Action: events that go from climax to resolution.

• Resolution: outcome/ conclustion/ ending.
