K-2 Early Literacy High-Quality Instructional Materials

– Foundational skills curriculum- Continuing

• utilizes “science of reading” approach,

• focuses on sounds first, systematic decoding, and absence of “guessing”

strategies for identifying words, and

• uses decodable texts for application practice.

– Knowledge-building curriculum (District-selection process due June 15th)

• focuses on building knowledge of the world,

• includes an abundance of questions, tasks and supports for all learners, and

• contains student work focused in discussion and writing activities that require

students to demonstrate new learning.
