THE ADVENTURES OF ALADDIN
Scene 1
Narrator : Once upon a time, not so far away from IPG Kampus Pendidikan Teknik,
Bandar Enstek, there is a place named Labu Ulu. There lived a widow who had an
only son whose name was Aladdin. They were very poor and never got the chance
to be in the Bersamamu, a television programme to help the poor. Aladdin basically
picks pumpkins from an orchard to another to earn money to live the day. One day,
as he was looking for pumpkins on an unknown orchard not so far away from Pak
Khalid’s far, Aladdin met a mysterious stranger. This smartly dressed dark-eyed man
with a trim black beard with a turban on his head asked Aladdin an unusual question.
Stranger : Come here, boy, how would you like to earn five kupangs?
Aladdin : Five kupangs? I can buy lunch and dinner with that! Sir, I'd do anything for
that kind of payment.
Stranger : Good, very good. Well, I'm not going to ask you to do much. Just go down
that manhole. I'm much too big to squeeze through myself. If you do as I ask, you'll
have your reward.
(The stranger helped Aladdin lift the manhole cover, for it was very heavy. Slim and
agile as he was, the boy easily went down.)
Aladdin : Oh dear, this is a large chamber and there is an old oil lamp sparkling.
Owh! Look at that! Trees dripping with glittering jewels, pots of gold and caskets full
of priceless gems, thousands of precious objects lay scattered about and this is
heaven!
(Unable to believe his eyes, Aladdin was standing dazed when he heard a shout
behind him.)
Stranger : The lamp! Put out the flame and bring me the lamp!
Aladdin : Why is he concerned about the lamp? For why should a stranger, out of all
such a treasure want only an old lamp? Should I try this lamp first to know what so
amazing of this lamp? (wondering)
Stranger : Give me the lamp. Hand it over now!
Aladdin : How about if you let me out first? Then we will see why you so desperate
to have this lamp.
Stranger : Well, that is too bad for you! You won’t be able get out of here forever!
Live your life in this dirty hole!
Narrator : Slamming down the manhole cover, never noticing that, as he did so, a
ring slid off his finger. Terrified Aladdin aimlessly put it on his middle finger, he
twisted it round and round. Suddenly the room was flooded with a rosy light and a
great genie with clasped hands appeared on a cloud.
Genie 1 : (while playing candy crush application in his Sony Ericsson mobile phone)
Wait a minute! I almost break my own record. (losing) Oh man! Okay, fine. What do
you want?
Aladdin : Who the hell are you? Anyway who cares I want to go home! (crying loudly
while slamming his head on the door)
Genie 1 : As though I care who I am…Come, let’s just get you home. Expilliarmus!
(In a flash he was back in his own home, though the door way tightly shut.)
Scene 2
Mother : Aladdin, my son, where are you? What took you so long just to grab some
pumpkins for Pak Khalid? Where is the money from the sale?
Aladdin : Oh, mother! Please hold to yourself. I am back, I am so sorry. Here you go
(showing the lamp).
Mother : Aladdin oh Aladdin…what were you thinking? Instead of pumpskin and
money, now I have old lamp. How am I supposed to feed you with a lamp? Well, this
does look like one funny lamp. Let me see (while rubbing the lamp to clean the dust)
….
(The widow began to rub the lamp. Suddenly out shot another genie, in a cloud of
smoke.)
Genie 2 : Oh wow!! You've set me free, after centuries! I was a prisoner in the lamp,
waiting to be freed by someone rubbing it. Now, I'm your obedient servant. Tell me
your wishes old lady.
Mother : Who are you saying to old lady?
Genie 2 : Opss! I am so sorry, master. Now, tell me anything you would like to have
and I get it for you.
Aladdin : (clearing throat) Bring us …. KFC bucket with large cheesy wedges,
domino’s pizza, big apple’s donuts, caramel macchiato from Starbucks and of
course, the wonderful Sup Meletup from Taman Tasik Permaisuri, Bandar Tun
Razak.
Genie 2 : Talk to my hand. You did not free me, she did. Yes mother?
Mother : Wait. What? He is my son, you dare disobey him? I put you back to this
lamp!
Genie 2 : Oh, no, no! Fine. Granted.
Aladdin: Bring us . . . bring us . . . kfc bucket with large cheesy wedges, domino’s
pizza and tutties fruity.
Narrator : From that day on, the widow and her son had everything they could wish
for food, clothes and a fine home, for the genie of the lamp granted them everything
they asked him. Aladdin grew into a tall handsome young man and his mother felt
that he ought to find himself a wife, sooner or later. One day, as he left the market,
Aladdin happened to see the Sultan Esketambola Labu Ulu's daughter Halima riding
her Kawasaki Ninja through the streets.
Scene 3
Aladdin: Oh my goodness what a beautiful lady you are…I wish I could have you
right by my side.
Halima: Well, hello who doesn’t want me in this world? You have to meet my father
to get me. Bye.
Aladdin : I was born on 1982 and I have been single since then. It is embarrassing,
man. My mother, she definitely need someone to be with her doing her shopping.
And I want 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. I have already dreamt of what name
should I be given to them. The girls will have my height and length of eyelashes. The
boys must have my bravery and hardworking.
Narrator : Aladdin went home and told his mother about who he met at the street.
Aladdin : I want to marry the Sultan’s daughter, Princess Halima!
Mother: I'll ask the Sultan for his daughter's hand. He'll never be able to refuse. Wait
and see!
In the palace
Sultan : Yes! Yes! (laughing happily while playing candy crush on his Ipad 100) I am
through to the next level.
Mother : Your highness …
Sultan : Just for a moment! Guards, where is the pause button?
Mother : Are you serious? Just now it was the genie and now the Sultan playing
candy crush.
Sultan : Ahhh, here is the button. Alright. Now, what can I do to help you, my poor
citizen?
Mother: My Lord, my son, the Rich and Famous Upper East Side, Aladdin has a
wish to marry your daughter. I have brought box full of big diamonds.
Sultan: Your son must bring proof of his power and riches. If Aladdin wants to marry
Halima, he must build her a golden bridge from your house to my palace. Along with
the bridge, he must bring seven pieces of the most expensive cake from Baskin
Robbin, seven outlets of my favorite place to eat in the whole country of Labu Ulu,
seven trays of Bisou’s finest red velvet cupcakes, seven bowl of Laksa Johor, seven
barrels of world finest caramel macchiato from Starbucks, seven towers of chocolate
fountain and seven stories of candy house.
Narrator : Aladdin's mother went sadly home and told him about what happened.
Mother : I am sorry, son. I disappoint you.
Aladdin : Don’t worry mother, I will settle this. (He picked up the lamp and start
rubbing it hard)
Genie 2 : (snoring).
Aladdin : Genie, wake up!
Genie 2 : Oh … (yawn) What is it about this time? (falls asleep)
(As Aladdin tickles Genie, Genie fell off of his bed which is made of clouds.)
Genie 2 : At your command! I know what to do, sir! Expecto Patronum!
Narrator : All the things that the Sultan wishes magically appeared in front of the
palace. There is a bridge made of gold and diamonds from Aladdin’s villa to the
palace. The obstacles had been overcome. The wedding took place with great
celebrations and the Sultan was especially happy at finding such a rich and powerful
son-in-law. News of Aladdin's sudden fortune and wealth spread like wildfire, until....
one day, a strange merchant stopped beneath the palace window.
Scene 4
Merchant : Old lamps for new!
Halima : Oh hello, fellow merchant of Labu Ulu. I think I have some old lamps to be
given. Wait a minute.
(Halima was assembling all the old lamps until suddenly she found Aladdin’s old
lamp).
Halima : Ohhh (disgusted)! I do not understand why Aladdin still keeps this hideous
lamp in our treasury. I shall surprise my love with a new lamp that looks more
elegant than this.
(Halima went to the merchant and when she gave it, the merchant quickly rubbed the
lamp and the genie was now at the service of the merchant who is the wizard who
had got his magic lamp back!)
Wizard : (laughing horrifiedly) Now, all that is yours are mine! You, blue monster,
take away all that you have been giving Aladdin including his wife! (continue
laughing)
Narrator : Nobody knew what had happened. Only Aladdin knew it had something to
do with the magic lamp. But as he wept over the lost genie of the lamp, he
remembered the genie of the ring from the wizard's finger. Slipping the ring on his
finger, Aladdin twisted it round and round.
Aladdin : I want you to take me to my wife!
Genie 1 : Zam zam ala kazam!
(In a flash, he found himself inside his own palace, and peeping from behind a
curtain, he saw the wizard and the princess, now his servant.)
Aladdin :.Psst! Psst!
Halima : Aladdin! It's you.!
Aladdin : Sssh. don’t let him hear you. Take this powder and put it into his tea. Trust
me.
(The powder quickly took effect and the wizard fell into a deep sleep. Aladdin hunted
for the lamp high and low, but it was nowhere to be seen.)
Aladdin: Halima, the lamp! Bring it to me.
(Once Aladdin got a hold on the lamp, he rubbed it so hard that he can feel his palm
was burning hot. Then, the genie appeared crying)
Genie 2 : Oh, master! How I missed you ….
Aladdin: I'm glad to see you again. I've certainly missed you! It's just as well I have
you by me again.
Genie 2 : At your command. Now, what shall we do with this wizard?
Aladdin: First, put this wicked wizard in chains and take him far away where he'll
never be found again."
Narrator : The genie grinned with pleasure, nodded his head, and the wizard
vanished. Halima clutched Aladdin in fear.
Halima: What's going on? Who is that genie? Most of all, why of all people, that
genie is the one you missed most? How about me?
Aladdin: Don't worry, everything is all right. Oh silly girl, there is nothing between
genie and I. I love you, Halima, with all my heart, I do.
Narrator : Aladdin reassured her, as he told his wife the whole story of how he had
met the wizard and found the magic lamp that had enabled him to marry her.
Everything went back to normal and the happy pair hugged each other tenderly.
Halima: So darling, can we go home now? My dress all dusty and hair is a mess.
This is so not the daughter of Sultan Esketambola Labu Ulu!
Aladdin: The magic that brought you here will take you back, but with me at your
side, forever.
The End
