Le viaduc du Millau

• The Millau Viaduct is a cable-stayed bridge that spans the valley of the river Tarn near Millau in southern France.

• Designed by French engineer Michel Virlogeux and British architect Norman Foster, it is the tallest bridge in the world. It is 1,125 ft high.

Les gorges du Verdon

• This is basically the French version of the Grand Canyon

• It is 25 kilometres long and 700 metres deep• It was formed by the Verdon River

Carcasonne

• it is a fortified French town with a cool castle• Carcassone was founded by the Visigoths in

the fifth century• It was thoroughly restored in 1853 by the

theorist and architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc

Le Pont du Gard

• Is an ancient Roman aqueduct bridge that crosses the Gardon River in Vers-Pont-du-Gard

• a 31 mile long structure built by the Romans to carry water from a spring at Uzès to the Roman colony of Nemausus (Nîmes)

• Built in the 1st century AD, the Pont du Gard is the highest of all Roman aqueduct bridges and is one of the best preserved
