Listen – What makes an effective soundtrack?

• What do you notice about the sounds?• How does it make you feel?

• What sort of instruments are used?

What do you think is happening?

• Describe what you think may be happening in the scene

What makes a good thriller soundtrack?• ALWAYS in a minor key

• Strings (often high pitched)

• Percussive heart beat sound (usually in the bass)

• Increasing in speed and volume

• Nursery rhyme themes work well for the creepy factor

• No lyrics

• Creates a sense of enigma

Choose Opening Thriller analyse sound

• Choose a thriller film (one you have seen)• Analyse the sound used in the thriller

• Create an animation

• Do this in pairs
