KUHN KWP-S(tandard) washing pressThe Standard-washing press is used as an addition to further treat

and dewater organic matter after the pre-separation ofscreenings. The washed waste material is then

compressed and removed.

The benefits of this devise have beenproven in local and industrial

wastewater treat-ment appli-cations and in Biomass andwaste processing.

How it works The KUHN KWP-Swashing press is most

commonly supplied withmaterial after rakes separate

the screenings from the flow,and screws or belt conveyors trans-

port the waste material directly to theKWP-S. Another common way to supply the

KWP-S is to use sloped open channels for materialtransport. The size of the KWP-S receiving tray is properly sized basedon the needed capacity.

An extremely strong screw with 20-30 mm thick steel blades pushesthe material into the washing zone where forward and back-

ward movement loosens the material and allows forthe material to be thoroughly rinsed.

The washed waste material is then compressedin a second stage screw, and therefore excesswater is removed. A chromium coating on thecompressing stage of the screw allows for

extremely high compression of the materialwhile maintaining its performance with

minimal wear.

After the material is compressed, the moist wasteproduct is transported through piping, attached to the

end of the compression stage, to storage containers. Thelength of the piping for the compressed waste material is recom-

mended to be between 6 and 10 meters.

As a washing fluid we recommend cold pre-filtered water. For anindustrial setting, warm pre-filtered water with addition of adegreaser is recommended.

The washing fluid consumption depends on the size of the machineand the desired level of washing.

Covers for minimizing odors and serving as a hygienic barrier are alsoavailable.

Performance and ExecutionThe KUHN KWP-S washing press consists of a sequence of essentialcomponents including the receiving tray, the single unit screw forwashing and an attached screw for compression, the enclosedwashing and compression zones, a bearing housing, a geared motor,and a screen for the water to drain out of the washing and compres-sion zones into a sloped drainage pan.

The bearing housing is located between the motor and the mainmachine housing. It includes thrust and ball bearings, and the entirebearing housing is using a special seal to remain watertight.

The standard model of the KUHN KWP-S washing press has thefollowing features:
