Faith Christian Academy (FCA) had their annual
dinner at GracePointe on May 2, 2015. The show
included the following: Family Feud, playing guitar
and dancing on stilts, PE class dance a math skit,
Bible verse recitation, juke box dance, live jujitsu
and a dance by the students to “We Go Together”
from the movie Grease. The guitar class at FCA
played “Rockin’ Robin”, “Yankee Doodle” and
“Spanish Theme”. The PE class danced to “The
Twist”, “Yakadee Yak”, “Great Balls of Fire” and
“Locomotion”. The math skit preformed by
Matthew and Gabriel Timblin was a hilarious
comedy. The live jujitsu was performed by Ana
Leesa Mendibles, Jansen Azarias and Kenji Azarias;
they preformed a demonstration of Jujitsu and told
the history of where it came from. After Kayla saw
the performance she exclaimed “Wow”. Another
amazing dance was done by Gabriel; he danced to
a variety of popular 50’s tunes. According to Nessa,
“This year’s FCA STYLE was amazing. From what I
saw everyone was having a blast.” Mrs. Leisa Seals
said “All the students did a really amazing job.”
The FCA students recited three verses Psalms
19:14; Proverbs 3:1-18 and 1st Corinthians 13.
Yvette Hammonds took pictures of the show. For
the grand finale the FCA students danced to “We
Go Together” at the end the teachers came up with

FEASTING
By Matthew Timblin
Faith Christian Academy (FCA) held their “Back to
the 50’s” FCA STYLE on May 2nd. The dinner itself
consisted of glazed ham, green beans, freshly made
scallop potatoes and donated dinner rolls from
Golden Coral. David Garcia and Oleta Garcia, his
wife, voluntarily prepared the meal and did a
fantastic job. The night of FCA STYLE they had help
preparing the dinner plates from Daniel, Jenna,
Bryan and Bonnie.
After the food was platted, the FCA students
carried trays of food to the tables. To top off the
meal, everyone enjoyed delicious pineapple upside
down cake home made by Mr. Garcia. It seemed
that everyone had a good time and thought it was
a great success. After asked how the food was,
Mrs. Lucy Irizarry said, “I know we had a really
good response about it, especially the pineapple
upside down cake and the scallop potatoes.”
Thank you, Ms. Araceli for being a very patient

Looking Back Looking
Forward
By Kayla Huston and Matthew Timblin
Many interesting things happened this year at Faith
Christian Academy (FCA). Spirit days stood out in
particular among the other events that went down.
The students were allowed to dress up, run wild
and have fun. Other students were excited to come
back and see their friends from previous years. The
fieldtrip to UIM was also a favorite part of the year.
The students especially loved the part when they
were allowed to stand behind the plane when the
pilot powered up the engine, blasting them with
air.
Also popular was the game, scatter ball. This was
played after lunch and is a free for all version of
dodge ball. Other memorable moments included
the students and teachers sharing laughs. Crazy,
fun conversations made this year interesting.
Some of the high schools favorite moments
included arguing (playfully) with the teachers,
many inside jokes, finishing Pima classes and Mrs.
Misty becoming the P.E. teacher.
The seventh grade enjoyed game days as well as
out of school activities with classmates, while the
sixth grade especially liked the different spirit days
and field trips. Overall it seemed like everyone had
a pretty good year.
The FCA students also plan to do many things over
the summer. Many are planning to travel around
the U.S. while others are going to stay home and
relax. During this time some will watch NETFLIX,
volunteer, swim, sleep, work and be awesome.
Driving can harm
Editorial by Nessa Villa
Being drunk or drinking while driving has caused
many Americans to be in a car crash or get killed. In
my life, I have heard of many people being in car
accidents or even dying because of this problem.
Recently, a person that I knew since I was two
years old died because he went out one night and
decided to party with his friends and drove while
he was drunk. While he was driving, he was
swerving continuously and finally crashed into a
wall and died instantly. It’s sad to see a person that
you loved so much be gone so suddenly. People
shouldn't die over this problem because there is so
much they can look forward to in life.
Also, many families are breaking apart today and
many roadside tragedies do happen. My personal
opinion is that you should not drink but, if you are
going to, have a designated driver to drive you
home "DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE", said Margarita.
Peek at the future
By Ana Leesa Mendibles
Wednesday, May 6, 2015, the 7th grade and high
school students took a field trip to Emerging
Technologies Youth Career Expo (ETYCE). Here the
students visited different stations for future
careers they might be interested in such as the Air
National Guard, Microsoft and video game
designing. One station in particular students spent
a long time at was the hacking station, where
students learned how to prevent hacking as much
as possible. Another station students spent a long
time at was Pima Community College. At this booth
they learned that they can get scholarships for
almost anything. At the end of the day ETYCE gave
away 10 desktop computers. Victoria and Leesa
each won one.

Jaguars are awesome!!!
By Ana Leesa Mendibles
Jaguars are the 3rd largest known feline after tigers
and lions. They can live in all types of
environments, but usually live from the Arizona-
Mexico border to South America. They use to live
around the Grand Canyon, but now they don’t
because they were hunted for their fur.
Jaguars live and hunt alone. They are carnivores,
and mostly hunt ground animals such as: mice,
lizards and other small reptiles. They kill their prey
by crushing its skull.
Jaguars love water, and also like to play and bathe
in it. They like to hunt in water. A Jaguar’s roar
sounds like they are coughing.
A mother jaguar can have 1-4 kittens. When they
are 1-1 ½ years old the kittens leave to take care of
themselves.

Leaders of FCA
By Annie Seyler
Here at Faith Christian Academy (FCA) the
Administration play a very important role in
maintaining the function of the schools day-to-day
tasks.
Laurel Timblin is the administrator, and Lucy
Irizarry is the administrative assistant in charge of
finances. Timblin and Irizarry have both been at
FCA for 5 years. Timblin started as president of the
board and ended up filling position of the
administrator. Timblin said, “I really enjoy the
impact that I can have on the kids.” She also
remarked that some of the hardest things about
working as administrator is being the bad guy,
needing to lay down the school rules and being
mom to some of the students. These things
sometimes make it hard to find time for her family.
Timblin also holds a non-voting seat on the school
board. Her favorite thing about being administrator
is seeing the student’s progress and the students
seeing themselves progress.
Irizarry is in charge of finding out and researching
what curriculum the school should use. Irizarry also
is the main communicator with the teachers and
helps by staying alongside the teachers. Irizarry’s
least favorite part about being the administrative
assistant is disciplining the kids. Irizarry said, “I
enjoy the financial aspects of this job and I love
being with the staff and students.”
