Balhae occupied southern parts ofManchuria
(Northeast China) and Primorsky Krai, and the
northern part of the Korean peninsula
Balhae (698 926) was established after the fall ofGoguryeo that existed during
the North South states period of Korea along with Unified Silla. After Goguryeo's
capital and southern territories fell to Unified Silla, Dae Jo-yeong, a former
Goguryeo general, whose father was Dae Jung-sang, established Jin (, Zhen inChinese), later called Balhae. It was a successor state to Goguryeo.

Sejong The Great KingSejong The Great King
Sejong the Great( 14181450) was the fourth king ofthe Joseon Dynasty ofKorea. During his regency, he
reinforced Korean Confucian policies and executed
major legal amendments (; ). He also used the
creation ofHangul and the advancement of
technology to expand his territory. He is the third son
ofKing Taejong and Queen Consort Wonkyeong.
Sejong is one of only two Korean rulers
posthumously honored with the appellation "the
Great", the other being Gwanggaeto the Great of
Goguryeo.

King JeongjoKing Jeongjo
King Jeongjo (22 September 1752 28
June 1800) was the 22nd ruler of the
Joseon Dynasty ofKorea. He made
various attempts to reform and improve
the nation of Joseon. He is widely
regarded as one of the most successful
and visionary rulers ofJoseon alongwith King Sejong.
He built Hwaseong Fortress to guard
the tomb of his father. It is now a
UNESCO World Heritage Site.

YeonsangunYeonsangun
Yeonsan-gun (1494-1506) was the 10th king ofKorea's Joseon Dynasty. He was the eldest son
ofSeongjong by his second wife, Lady Yoon. He
is often considered the worst tyrant in Joseon
Dynasty, notorious for launching two bloody
purges of the seonbi elite. He also seized a
thousand women from the provinces to serve aspalace entertainers, and appropriated the
Seonggyungwan hall of study as a personal
pleasure ground. Because he was overthrown,
Yeonsan-gun did not receive a temple name

ConclusionConclusion
Korean was ruled by many great Kings from earlier
Gojoseon period and each King had contributed to the
building up of the great Korean nation .
Traditional Korean folk culture song, dance, drama, art have their roots in Korean monarchs , and this means that
the culture itself is imbued with the rule of monarchs.
The best ways to understand many social,cultural and
architecture in Korea is by understanding the reigns of
monarchs
