King Henry the Eighth

King Henry was born on June 28,1491 and died at the age of 55 on January 28,1547.

Henry lived in many royal homes in London including the Tower of London, the Palace of Westminster and Baynard's Castle. Henry also took over Hampton Court in 1528.

King Henry was mostly famous for having six wives and establishing Protestantism in England.# 1 Catherine of Aragon : Failed to give him a son, so he divorced her.#2 Anne Boleyn : Also failed to give him a son, so he blamed her for adultery and had her executed.#3 Jane Seymour : Gave him a son, but Jane died shortly after he was born#4 Anna of Cleves : Thought she looked like a horse , so divorced her#5 Kathryn Howard : She had an affair , so she was executed.#6 Katherine Parr : Survived. Henry died and she remained queen.

• England was Roman Catholic , and divorcing was a sin. When Henry wanted to divorce his 1st wife, Catherine, the pope refused , so in 1534 he made the Anglican Church, which is a form of Protestantism, with himself as head.

• In 1539 , he gave permission to print out the 1st English bible, known as “The Great Bible”, and demanded that every church in England owned one.
