Cross country moves to track and fi eldTHE CROSS country season ended on a highly competitive note with the Club juvenile relays in Freshford.

The U9 races were for individual athletes.

Castlecomer cubs acquitted themselves well. Molly O’Dornan fi nished third, followed by Molly Hogan and Grace Healy 8th and 9th.

James Coogan was the leading Castlecomer athlete in the boys’ race, in fi fth place. Michael Brennan was

sixth, Joey Ryan seventh, Aaron Coogan eleventh and Christopher Kealy thirteenth.

In U11 girls’ relay, Castlecomer teams fi nished 6th, 10th and 11th. Team ‘A’: Lucy Coogan, Aoibhian and Sarah Brophy. Team ‘B’: Aoife O’Sullivan, Ella Tynan and Molly O’Dornan. Team ‘C’: Ella Nolan, Sophie Kealey and Elaine Walsh. There were two

boys’ teams. Will Fox, Jack Murphy and Cathal O’Reilly won silver. Liam Doyle, Ciaran Meagher, Tommy Coogan and Oisin Conroy were sixth.

Hannah Murphy guested on a combined Kilkenny City Harriers/Castlecomer U13 team which won silver. Ellen Buggy, Eimear Stone and Aoife Cahalan were fourth while Ava Coogan, Sinead Morrissey and

Sinead Healy were fi fth, all at U13.

The boys’ U13 team won silver, Sean O’Dornan, Nicky Connolly and Killian Hogan. U15 boys excelled to win gold, James Buggy, Ross Connolly, Conor Normoyle and Adam Jacob.

Attention now turns to the track and fi eld season and training continues on Tuesdays

and Fridays at the community school.
