Summer Re-Cap
4-H Fair
We volunteered at the annual Egg Harbor City 4-H fair this summer with the Kiwanis Club. Sadly the rain seemed to keep people away. But everyone that showed up did a fantastic job talking orders and serving food. Everyone had a lot of fun interacting with other Key
Clubs in our district and with the Kiwanis members.
Field of Dreams
At the beginning of the summer a few of our club members volunteered at the local Field of Dreams. Our members participated in a baseball game where they were helpers for the children, or their “little buddy” as Ben Keating says, playing.
“Field of Dreams really opened my eyes to what it means to be a fiend to a child with a disability. It’s not hard work, uncomfortable, awkward, or any other pre-conceived notion that may be thought up when considering taking part in Field of Dreams. All it takes is a smile on a child’s face, and the tear in their parent’s eye as they watch their child play baseball proudly, and you’re hooked. I will never forget the lives that crossed my path in the field, and you won’t either.” –Harley Super, Vice President of Key Club.

Our club will be running the Second Annual Blood Drive here at Cedar Creek on Monday October 1st! Giving blood is one of the best and easiest ways we, as young people with limited volunteer options, can make a huge impact in people’s lives!
You have to be at least 16 years old to donate. If you are too young, or if needles give you the heebie-jeebies, you can volunteer to help run the event! You can even do both!
There are so many ways to be involved in this. Just think – you could be a part of something that saves the lives of people all across the country! Last year we exceeded what our goal amount was, and this year we hope to do the same! Hope to see you giving blood or giving time on
October 1st!
There will be an assembly on September 11th and training for volunteers will be announced some time before September 28th.

Message from the Vice President:
“New Members - Keep in mind: we are all here for one reason – to better
our homes, school and community. Remember to enjoy yourself, and
never forget that when you’re volunteering, you are helping others!
Sign up, show up, follow up! Feel free to come to
me with any questions, as well as any of the other officers! Get involved as much as possible! You’ll find the more you give, the
more you grow into a strong, well-rounded student with a love of helping
others!”

Peace Pilgrim
Four of our Key Clubbers got to be a part of the peaceful and loving experience at the Peace Pilgrim over the weekend (Sept. 14-16.) A few of our members made un-iced cupcakes and, at the event, children, and a fair number of adults, were able to decorate the cupcakes! There were also instrument-making standings, origami, and a unifying drum circle! The drum circle was a very special part of the event because before each drumming session someone would dedicate that session to a specific
movement of peace that he or she felt very strongly about. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful event!
