The importance of monitoring

Reflection

• Write two sentences about your workload.

• The first sentence should describe how many hours you are doing (like a timesheet). The second sentence should estimate how many hours of work did you “pass on” to others.

• Discuss with your partner the ratio between the two – is it fair, if so why/why not?

Discussion

• Are you the sort of employee who a) “works to survive”

(not get fired), or the sort that b) “works so

they can be proud of what they did?

With the person next to you, discuss which out of A or B is a good strategy for a satisfying career path and why.

Critique

• Share what you’ve written with the person sitting near you. Ask her or him to give you one comment on your solution: does he or she think that it is a practical one? Does he or she have any ideas about another way to deal with the problem?

Individual/group consultation time

• Got yourself organised but struggling to get others “on board”?

• Having trouble using team-time effectively?

• Worried about saying too much / too little?

I can help.
