Introduction My Country is Iraq and the capital of Iraq

Baghdad. Iraq’s official language is Arabic Iraq is in Asia and the border are Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Iran and Kuwait.

This beautiful ancient country now lies in ruins after the brutalities of war.

Situated in the heart of the middle,Iraq’s total land area equals 168,868 square miles.

Assyria,Persia,Macedonia, and other areas later ruled the region.

In 1792B.C.,Kng Hammurabia took over.

At that time the country was called Mesopotamia or the land between two rivers.

Saddam Hussein became Iraq’s President in 1979.

Iraq’s history reaches back thousands of years.

In about 3300B.C. the Sumerians created one of the world’s first civilizations in Mesopotamia.

Culture Clothing: The traditional clothing for men is

Dishdasha, which is along sleeve long shirt that reaches the angels. The traditional clothing for women is Abaya, which is along black cloak that reaches the feet. Most women wear the hijab which covers the hair.

Music: Iraqi music is a mix of Arabic, Turkish and Kurdish music among others. The main three instruments used are the Oud, Iraqi santur and Joza. The classical music includes the Maqam performances. The performer improves loased on rules and the lyrics are from old Arabic poems.

Hoidays:The holidays in Iraq are 17 days each year these include the Muslim festivals: Eid Al Adha, Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Hijra, Eid Al Ashura,The prophet’s Birthday. In addition to New Years Day, Iraq celebrates national holidays such as Army Day, Ceasefire Day, and National Day. Iraq also celebrates Labour Day on May1st .

Food: Iraqi cooking is very similar to the Turkish and Iranian cooking, because they are neighboring countries. Iraqis like to stuff vegetables and eat a lot of lamb, rice and yogurt. They also eat and prepare mezza dishes.

Story Behind The Flag: The flag of Iraq consists of the horizontal strips. The top stripe is red; the middle is white; the bottom is black the phrase “God is Great” is written in green on the white stripe. This flag was adopted in 2008. The colors used to are common for to many countries. The three bands represent oppression (black) to be changed by bloody struggle (red) to be replaced by a bright future (white).

Native Animals: The main form of wildlife in Iraq is birds. Wolves, foxes, jackals, hyenas, wild pigs and wild cats are found. In common with other regions in the middle east, Iraq is a breeding ground for desert locusts the rivers streams, such as Barbus and Catfish.

Modes of transportation: Iraq has different modes of transportation. In the deserts and mountains they still rely on camels, horses and donkeys. On the road network they use car, buses, taxies and motorcycles. The roads are mostly paved –four fifth. Some roads are linked with neighboring courtiers like Kuwait and Jordan. Two international in Bagdad and Al-Basrah, as well as four regional airports. The railway system has main lines from Baghdad to Kirkuk and Arbil, and from Baghdad to Mosul and Turkey. Rivers, lakes and channels have long been used for local transportation.

Population: Iraq has the fourth largest population in the middle east. In 2012, the estimate population was 33,703,000. 66.5% live in Urban areas 33.5% live in rural areas.

Conclusion I like Iraq because it is filled with

adventure and wonder and I think I want you to go to Iraq.
