• CalEnergy Philippines maintains a strong corporatesocial responsibility program that includescommunity- and family-based reforestation programs,livelihood programs, education promotion,community outreach programs, medical missions,blood donation drives and infrastructure projects,such as community electrification, construction ofroads and bridges, and construction of soundhousing.
• CalEnergy Philippines shares safety and healthinitiatives with the community by conducting trainingand information campaigns. First aid and basic lifesupport training, defensive driving training, and drugprevention campaigns are among the programs thathave been implemented.
POWERING PROGRESS
In addition to generating renewable energy anddelivering water for irrigation, CalEnergy Philippinesprovides assistance to the community.
• The Casecnan Multipurpose Irrigation and Power Project stabilizes the water supply to102,000 hectares of existing irrigated areas.
• CalEnergy established a citrus orchard for more than100 Bugkalot families. They also provided technologyand training on how to plant, grow, market, andmake the citrus business sustainable and profitable.
• CalEnergy Philippines has sponsored scholarships for more than 2,000 students, constructed 84 classrooms in local communities, donated morethan 1.5 million books to 240 public schools,established day care centers and sponsored teachers’salaries.
• As of June 2014, after more than 12 years incommercial operation, CalEnergy Philippinesachieved more than 2 million safe man-hours workedwithout a lost-time accident or Occupational Safetyand Health Administration recordable incident.
