• Juliette (Daisy) was born on
October 31, 1960 in Savannah, GA.
• As a child, she was known as
“Hurricane Daisy” thanks to her never-ending
schemes and ideas
• At the age of 25, when suffering from her chronic ear aches,
Daisy asked her doctor to try out a new
treatment. But even when the doctor refused, she was
stubborn about the whole situation. He
treated her by injecting her with silver nitrate.
As a result, a prolonged illness occurred and she lost most of her hearing in that ear.

• At 26, Daisy married William
Mackay Low.
• In a freakish accident, a grain of the “good luck
rice” lodged in her good ear.
• Soon after, William’s father
died, and the Low’s became very rich. William was found
to have many infidelities.
• By 1903, William was pressing for a divorce in order to marry his mistress.
• In 1905, Daisy agreed to the divorce, but William died before it was finalized.

Daisy’s handbook • Daisy wrote and published her first
handbook• The handbook included instruction on
camping, telegraphing, shooting, exercise and self improvement.
• Daisy was paying for everything regarding this organization,
enough so that she had to sell her pearls to gain
enough money to continue running it
• Her family encouraged
her to do fundraisers
instead
The girl scout world camp
• Daisy resigned as president, and looked over her creation of the
world wide organization.
• She asked to create a world camp for the
girl scouts, and in May 1926, 456 people from 30 countries
attended the meeting to discuss ideas and
hopes.
The outcome of Daisy’s funeral • Daisy was
secretly battling
breast cancer. She died on January 17,
and her funeral was attended by thousands of
her girl scouts.• She was buried with a note that read: “You are not
only the first girl scout, but the best girl scout of them all”
• Although she was deaf in one ear and the other was damaged,
Daisy never lost her sense of humor and
positive outlook on life. In fact,
every time someone tried to tell her no, she pretended she couldn’t hear
them.
• Daisy contributed to the deaf society by proving that even though hearing is
important, it should not contain you from doing what you want to do.
• She changed so many girls’ lives, hearing and deaf, so much in fact
that she eventually
became the eighth woman
