Getting started….• The PROJECT:

PELE in Preschool –Jornades Nov. 2011

WHAT?

Introducing the English language in

the 4 and 5-year-olds’ classroom.

HOW?

Using the English language in

the classroom to follow

routines.

WHEN?

Starting with two 30-minute sessions per

week and finishing with 2 hours of

English per week.

WHY?

To get students used to a

foreign language as a means

of communication.

PROGRAMMING• Our AIMS:

– Comprendre instruccions orals i respondre amb l’acció a les ordres donades.

– Comprendre i utilitzar fórmules de salutació, de presentació i d’agraïment.

– Comprendre globalment contes curts d’estructura repetitiva amb l’ajuda d’elements gestuals i icònics.

– Escoltar i reproduir cançons, poemes i contes curts.

– Utilitzar el vocabulari i les estructures comunicatives habituals a classe.

– Participar activament en jocs i representacions.

– Manifestar una actitud receptiva cap a la nova llengua.

AIMS FOR THE TEACHER Utilitzar la llengua estrangera a l’aula.

Establir unes rutines diàries per a l’aula.

Emprar suports diversos en la presentació del llenguatge.

Crear un clima afectiu positiu a l’aula.

Portar al dia un registre amb l’evolució del grup.

Treballar amb l’equip d’educació infantil per adequar la programació a

cada grup.

Mantenir una relació efectiva i continuada amb les mares i pares perquè

col·laborin en el procés d’aprenentatge dels seus fills.

Avaluar trimestralment el progrés del projecte.

Working on ORAL SKILLS• INPUT is always previous to OUTPUT… lots of good listening will

lead to good oral language.

• Use simple and repetitive structures, linked to their immediate world

(physical and emotional needs).

• Give them the chance to speak: routines, asking for permission,

reviewing other sessions…

• Use chants and songs at all times!

• Make them participate: short plays, role-playing…
