John French graduated from massage school in 1997 and
opened a private practice in Seattle, WA. He became
licensed in Florida in 1999 and moved his practice to
Gainesville. In addition to private practice, he taught
massage theory and technique at Florida Acupuncture and
Massage Institute for several years. John played a strong
role in Veterans receiving massage therapy in Gainesville
and surrounding areas. In 2000, he created and worked in a
program to help veterans with chronic pain by bringing
massage into their homes. Shortly afterwards, he
established an office in the Pain Clinic at the Malcolm
Randall VA Medical Center of Gainesville, where he worked
for eight and a half years helping Veterans using his
extensive experience in injury treatment. John is strongly
involved in his local massage chapter (
The Suwannee Valley Chapter of the Florida State Massage
Therapy Association) and was Chapter Executive Board
Secretary from 2007 to 2010. He continues to expand his
knowledge of massage and the body through continuing
education classes and independent study. He is a registered

Ashley was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida where
she later attended UF for journalism. While enrolled at UF,
Ashley took a part time job as a receptionist at a local
massage office that dealt with medical injuries. While
working there, she found herself captivated by what the
therapists were doing and could do. After a little over six
months of employment there, she decided that what she
really wanted out of life was to help people and learn as
much as she could about the human body. At that point,
she did not hesitate to do what had to be done and
enrolled at the Florida School of Massage. Anatomy and
physiology instantly became one of her favorite, and
strongest, subjects; which later allowed her to gain
immediate employment after graduation as a therapist at
the medical massage office where she was currently
working. With no down time, Ashley has been working with
people that suffer from chronic and acute pain. She has
had great success in helping people with their injuries and
discomfort, but really seems to have a great
understanding and touch when it comes to neck issues.
Her love of journalism, however, has not gone completely,
and she still finds herself reading and writing in her free
time.Her services include:

Ortho-Bionomy
Ortho-Bionomy® can be very effective for treating
injuries, pain associated with structural and
postural imbalances, and chronic stress. It works
towards creating improved flexibility, reduction of
muscle tension, improved circulation, soothing
joints, an increased range of motions, and full
body relaxation. The positive effects of the therapy
tend to be long lasting. Sometimes just a few
sessions are enough to feel the difference, while
other times a longer period of time may be needed
to help re-educate the body into healthier
reactions and responses. Ortho-Bionomy® shows
people how they can be continuously at ease
emotionally and physically, and may also have
positive effects on their emotions and attitudes.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating
and enhancing the functioning of a physiological
system called the craniosacral system - comprised
of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that
surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5
grams, or about the weight of a nickel,
practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral
system to improve the functioning of the central
nervous system.By complementing the body’s natural healing
processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive
health measure for its ability to bolster resistance
to disease and is effective for a wide range of
medical problems associated with pain and
dysfunction

Deep (Connective) Tissue Massage
Deep tissue or connective tissue massage is said to
restore the length and flexibility to the fascia (the
fibrous tissue that surrounds muscles and organs) by
normalizing the tissue and by improving the strength
and overall health of the entire fascial system (the
connective tissue running throughout the entire
body). Deep tissue massage borrows many of its
techniques from traditional Swedish massage.
However, the pressure that a massage therapist
applies during a deep tissue massage is more intense,
and massage oil or lotion typically used in very small
amounts. The strokes in this type of massage are
slower, and more pressure is applied in order to reach
the deeper layers of the muscles. Although having a
deep tissue massage shouldn’t cause you any over
whelming pain, it can be a little less comfortable then
a traditional Swedish massage. Most practitioners ask
that clients tell them immediately if the pressure is
too intense. Heated Bamboo Massage
Heated bamboo massage is a technique for anyone
wanting a relaxing and luxurious spa massage or for
anyone who needs some serious deep-tissue
bodywork for overworked and injured muscles.
Throughout the massage, the therapist will use
several different warmed pieces of compressed
bamboo to work the tension out of each muscle. Long
fluid strokes in different styles like Swedish, deep
tissue, lymphatic drainage, or neuromuscular therapy
are used to stretch and compress the muscle and
tissue. Some of the benefits of heated bamboo
include: increased circulation, decreased muscles
spasms, breaking up of tissue adhesions, flushing the
body of metabolic wastes, and the release of
endorphins to promote relaxation and pain reduction.

Kinesio Taping
Kinesio® Taping gives support and stability to joints and
muscles without reducing circulation or range of motion.
It is also used for edema and pain management. This
technique stimulates natural healing processes through
the body's neurological and fluid systems. Circulation of
venous and lymph flows, body temperature, and many
other body functions are under muscular control, a fact
that is the basis of soft tissue therapy. Employment of
Kinesio Taping® creates a new approach to treating
nerves, muscles, and organs and can reeducate the
neuromuscular system, reduce pain and inflammation,
and even prevent injury or enhance performance.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
(MLD)MLD massage is done on bare skin with no massage oil
or lotion in order to maximize the techniques and effects
of the treatment. The therapist will use slow gentle
strokes that will lightly stretch the walls of the lymph
vessels and encourage lymph drainage. The therapist
might focus on specific areas or treat the entire body,
depending on the client’s needs. A client might be given
simple exercises to do at home to aid the treatment.
Some benefits of MLD include: reduction in edema
(swelling), detoxification of the body, decrease in
migraine headaches and post-surgical swelling, relief or
decrease from chronic pain, reduction in fibromyalgia
symptoms and much more.

ReikiReiki is an energetic, non-invasive healing practice in the
“therapeutic touch” tradition. A Reiki practitioner, acting as
a conduit, allows Reiki energy to flow through him/her and
be drawn where needed by the client. In this way, the client
becomes an active participant in the balancing and healing
process. Reiki works in harmony with all other therapies
and techniques for healing and can help improve their
results. Reiki treats the whole person (mind, body, spirit,
and emotion), and most recipients notice a deep feeling of
relaxation and a sense of peace, as well as feeling
generally balanced and refreshed. During an "in person"
treatment the client will usually lie on a massage table or
mat in a calm environment. The Reiki practitioner’s hands
are gently placed on or near the client’s body to allow the
transfer of energy from the practitioner’s hands to the
client. Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is a very relaxing flowing massage
that encourages the increase of arterial circulation and
detoxification. Swedish massage can reduce muscle
tension and aid in pain relief. Some of the benefits of
Swedish Massage include: increased circulation,
decreased muscle spasms, breaking up of tissue
adhesions, and the releasing of endorphins to promote
relaxation and pain reduction.

What do I need to know if I am coming in for the first time?
Please arrive fifteen minutes before your scheduled appointment to
fill out a health intake form and to meet with your therapist. To
minimize intake time and allow for more time on the table,
download, print, and fill out the New Client Health Information Form
(if applicable) from our website found under the “Forms” link at the
top of the screen. Bring the completed form with you on the day of
your first session. If you are coming for Ortho-Bionomy®,
CranioSacral, AIS, or Reiki, you should wear loose comfortable
clothing that you can move in—these therapies are done with the
client clothed.
Do I have to be completely naked during the massage?
No; the type of massage therapy you choose will determine how
much you might wish to undress for, but no matter what type of
massage you choose, you need only undress to your level of
comfort. Your comfort is paramount in receiving the best treatment
possible, and there are alternative ways to work if you don’t feel
comfortable undressing past a certain level. When undressed, you
can be covered with a sheet or a towel over the parts of the body
not being worked on. Please let the therapist know what kind of
draping preferences you prefer.
Is it appropriate to be completely naked under a sheet or
towel during the massage?
Yes; a client will be given privacy to undress and lay on the
massage table and choose the level and choice of draping (sheet or
towel) he or she is most comfortable with. The therapist will wait
until the client is ready before entering. The client is given a button
to push to signal the therapist that he or she is ready to begin the
massage. When a client is comfortable not wearing any clothing
under the sheet or towel, the therapist has the best possibility to
use a full range of techniques, most of which have to be applied on
bare skin, to bring about the greatest effect for the client. If you
wear undergarments or any amount of clothing, the therapist will
adjust the techniques for the greatest beneficial effect under the
circumstances.
What types of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, and charge (e.g., Visa, MasterCard,
Discover, and American Express)

Can I talk during the massage?
Yes; it is ok to talk or ask questions at anytime before, during, or
after the massage and it is also ok to be quiet. You are highly
encouraged to communicate with your therapist at any time if you
are uncomfortable in any way (i.e. pressure, temperature, music
preference, etc.).
Do you take insurance?
Yes; if you would like to use your health insurance to pay for your
massage therapy, please call ahead so we can verify your
coverage. If insurance coverage is confirmed for massage therapy,
We will be happy to bill your insurance company directly. You are
responsible for any outstanding balance, deductibles, or co-
payments at the time of service. In most cases you will need a
prescription from a doctor or a chiropractor stating that massage
therapy is medically necessary along with the specified number of
treatments and areas to be worked on in order for insurance to
cover your massage treatments. For ease we have added a
downloadable Prescription Form on our website, which contains the
necessary information needed, that you can take to your health
care provider and have filled out.
If your injury is from a car accident and is an open claim, most auto
insurance companies will cover massage. Please bring the
completed downloadable Insurance Intake Form and
New Client Health Information Form (if applicable) from our website
and a completed prescription from your doctor or chiropractor with
you on your first visit.
Is there anything else I should know?
Please arrive at least five minutes before your scheduled
appointment time (if it is not your first appointment) to ensure the
best experience possible. If you think you are going to be late or
can’t make your appointment, please call as soon as you can. If you
do arrive late, we will always try to accomplish the requested
amount of time if there is room in the schedule. Full payment for
the time scheduled will be required, even if you arrive late and no
adjustment could be made to work later. If you don’t show up for
your scheduled appointment or fail to call and cancel, a fee of half
the cost of your scheduled massage may be assessed before
another appointment can be scheduled.
