Course: Comm 130, Section 12
Instructor: Sara Tranberg
Date: 19 October 2016
Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop
Description: Blend two or more images together to create a spiritual themed photomontage.
Objective: Use Photoshop layer masks to blend multiple images together. Use appropriate typography.
Process: I started by searching the internet for images I could use. Once I selected my main image, I used Photoshop to move the position of the young man to the left, and then I used the clone stamp to extended the background texture. I added the selection of the image of Christ, and used a layer mask to blend the edges into the background. I wanted the background to have a more gradual fade, so I replicated the background layer and added a find edges filter. I then applied the overlay blending mode at 30% opacity.

Programs Used: Adobe InDesign, Prezi Presentation Software
Description: Create a professional presentation using the Prezi software. The presentation should also highlight some of the unique features and capabilities of Prezi.
Objective: Learn how to use Prezi and use it as a resource for giving visual presentations.
Process: I manually sketched a design for my presentation. I searched the internet for images to place in the presentation. I then used Adobe InDesign to create the background and individual slides. The ticket shape was created using the pathfinder tool. I uploaded the presentation background to Prezi and added the titles and captions. Finally, I added the frames to the presentation to create a path of movement when the presentation is viewed.

Course: Comm 130, Section 12
Instructor: Sara Tranberg
Date: 12 October 2016
Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop
Description: Use an original photograph to create a photodesign that incorporates a harmonious color scheme.
Objective: Learn basic photography skills. Combine photos with design elements using Photoshop.
Process: I took a close up photo of a flower growing in my front yard. I decided to pair this image with a quote about friendship. I used Photoshop to make basic edits to the photograph such as: increasing the levels and vibrancy and intensifying the yellow color in the flower. Using the mask feature in Photoshop I created a black and white layer, and then used the paint brush tool to paint the color back into the flower. I added and styled the text and the color scheme swatches. I exported the design as a PDF for printing.

Programs Used: Notepad ++, Google Chrome
Description: Use HTML and CSS to build a custom webpage featuring your company logo and some information about the design of the logo.
Objective: Acquire working knowledge of HTML and a basic understand of CSS.
Process: I resized the logo I created in the Business Identity project and saved it as a PNG with a transparent background. I used HTML to code the main page content. I wanted to have a design where the subcategories expanded and collapsed, so I wrote a simple Java-script program that caused the subcategory paragraphs to appear and disappears when you clicked the subcategory name. I used CSS to customize the visual elements of the site. I validated my HTML and CSS files using an online validator.

Description: Design a full color folding brochure.
Objective: Setup and align a two sided folding document. Learn how to wrap text around an image. Use paragraph styles in InDesign.
Process: I brainstormed topics, and then sketched possible brochure layouts. I used Adobe InDesign to create a mock-up of my sketched layout. I used Adobe Illustrator to draw the house banner shapes, and design the Ministry of Magic logo. I used Adobe Photoshop to edit black and white images of the house mascots to match the corresponding colors for that house, and split the Hogwarts logo into two separate images. I placed the edited images into my mock-up. I added the background textures and styled the typography. Using Photoshop, I cut out an illustration of the sorting hat, and added a sepia filter. I placed this selection into my brochure and added a text wrap. I exported the design as a PFD for printing.
