This program of original and arranged music for solo guitar celebrates how newmusic and ideas emerge from music of past masters. Albéniz’s Bach-inspired Toccata-Prelude Asturias and his impressions of Cuba are followed by a contemporary workby Cuban composer Leo Brouwer and a lute masterpiece by Bach.
Other highlights of the program feature Mr. Vieaux’s innovative and acclaimedarrangements of music by American jazz pioneer Pat Metheny. Vieaux’s arrange-ments merge the musical languages of Spain and the Baroque era with Metheny’sAmericana landscapes, creating fresh new concert works.
