If you had set your alarm early enough, you likely saw this rare sight. The Super Blue Blood Moon was clearly seen across Phoenix early Wednesday morning. The city’s Social Media team captured this spectacular shot of the moon making its way around Phoenix City Hall.

The city of Phoenix will soon honor its departed colleagues at the annual Employee Memorial Ceremony. Sadly, two employees died in the course of their duties in 2017.
Employees are encouraged to attend, with supervisor approval. Following the ceremony, employees are invited to form a path of unity to the employee memorial adjacent to City Hall. Details:

Victims of teen dating violence are at a higher risk for substance abuse, eating disorders, risky sexual behavior, suicide & adult re-victimization. How can two hours of your time end up saving your life? Find out at an upcoming Don’t Be A Victim! class for city employees. Learn about personal space and self-awareness, as well as how simple objects like markers or flashlights could help you escape an attack. Instructor Jui Chiu of the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is a former police officer, Army specialist and CPS investigator.
He specializes in three types of martial arts and has already taught this course to nearly 6,000 people citywide. Follow #PHXDefense for safety tips. Details:

SPECIAL LECTURE SERIES
As part of the 7th Annual Arizona Scitech Festival, Pueblo Grande Museum will be hosting the lecture series Findings from Fragments: Archaeological Discoveries Through Pottery:
These 45-minute lunch-time lectures will explore the science of pottery production and look at the archaeological research done on pottery sherds to reconstruct history and form new ideas on prehistoric cultures and traditions. The 28th annual Phoenix Chinese Week Culture and Cuisine Festival is almost here. For ten years, the city of Phoenix has worked with local groups with the Bag Central Station plastic bags recycling program. Many local grocery stores take part in the program, where customers can recycle their plastic grocery bags and other soft plastics properly. A big event was held to mark the anniversary.
